Interfaith Community Clinic

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteerism is a vital component of the Interfaith Community Clinic. Approximately 90% of all services are performed by licensed professionals volunteering their time to help our patients. The clinic’s volunteers are truly the key to our success.

  • Medical and Dental Professionals
    Professional volunteers of licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, dental hygienists, dental assistants and retired professionals work together to provide patient care.  They work in the same capacity required in any clinic setting; the specific routine unique to this Clinic is covered in an orientation.

    Hours Available:
    3-4 hour shifts, Monday through Friday
    Evening Clinics available
    Commitment: One shift per month
  • Patient Services
    The patient services volunteer interviews the patient before the patient is examined by the dental or medical staff. Basic information about the Clinic and its policies and procedures are explained and an assessment of other patient needs is determined. They also assist the patient in obtaining other health care or social service resources that may be available to them or their family. The specific routine unique to this Clinic is covered in an orientation.

    Hours Available:
    3-4 hour shifts, Monday through Friday
    Commitment: Daytime – one shift per week;
    Evening – one shift per month
  • Office Assistants
    The front desk volunteers in both clinic settings are essential for the orderliness and documentation for each patient visit.  Receptionists are greeters and “keepers” of the paperwork. Volunteers are also responsible for answering the phones and providing helpful information. A brief orientation with observation time will equip you for this task.  At other non-clinic hours, volunteers are welcome for various office tasks.

    Hours Available:
    3-4 hour shifts, Monday through Friday
    Commitment: Daytime – one shift per week;
    or Evening – one shift per month
  • Translators
    In those instances when needed, the use of a translator greatly facilitates the Clinic visit. Most often, the need is for Spanish interpretations. This communication link begins during the interview with Social Services and continues with the medical or dental exam.

    Hours Available:
    3-4 hour shifts, Monday through Friday
    Commitment: Daytime – one shift per week; or Evening – one shift per month
  • Pharmacy Assistance Program
    The volunteer assists patients in obtaining medications from pharmaceutical company’s assistance programs. This volunteer is responsible for completing required paperwork and submitting completed applications to pharmaceutical companies.  Follow up is required to notify patient of medication received and renew as needed.

    Hours Available:
    3-4 hour shifts, Monday through Friday
    Commitment: Daytime – one shift per week
  • Pharmacy
    Interfaith Community Clinic maintains a small in-house pharmacy of donated medications.  The volunteer assists with pick up of donation and documentation of inventory.

    Hours Available:
    Monday through Friday as needed
    Commitment: Daytime – one shift per week

Message from a Clinic Volunteer

What is a volunteer?  A person who performs a service of his or her own free will. I have been a volunteer since my children were in elementary school and became involved with the Clinic when the doors opened in 1996.  I began as a receptionist in the evening and as the Clinic grew and I retired, I began volunteering every Tuesday morning and continue today.

I am in awe of the caliber of each Clinic volunteer and each and everyone are dedicated and committed to the “job” and nothing is a “bother”. I look forward each week to being at the Clinic and I am reminded how blessed I am and that the Lord has given me good health to do good for those less fortunate. The rewards are priceless!!
